Crossing out, and one-way flights

I’ve made some serious progress in the last two days, on my prep list. There weren’t many major things left to take care of, just several small items that are nice to have out of the queue. However, I’m still trying to sort out my day-pack situation. I’d like to bring something compact, but also something non-touristy. I have a backpack that will work, but I fear it’ll make me stick out like a sore thumb.

Also, this morning I finalized my route from Sicily to Spain. I bought a one-way from Palermo to Barcelona, leaving on May 21st. This leaves me with roughly six days in Sicily, which is just about right. This actually works out quite nicely, because for whatever reason the air fares jumped up about 130 Euro right after the 21st.

I almost got screwed, when I tried buying the ticket through a semi-sketchy European agent. Disaster was averted however, when I went ahead and booked my seat directly with Iberian Air. I got a decent rate, and it ended up costing around 95 Euro. This is more than a train ticket to be sure, but it also saves me something like 19 hours of travel time. Flying is cool.
